Before anyone looks up
Inspect each filter. Never use scratched, punctured, torn or loose glasses. Put them on before facing the Sun and turn away before removing them. Proper solar protection is required throughout every partial and annular phase. Inside the verified path of totality, remove glasses only while the Sun's bright face is completely covered, then replace them the instant bright sunlight returns.
Follow the supplied IFU and its two-year guidance. Children require adult supervision. See our safe-use guide.
Phone photos and optical cameras are different
For a brief, non-magnified phone photo, an undamaged filter may fully and securely cover the active phone lens before pointing it at the Sun. Protect eyes separately. Never use this method with DSLR or mirrorless cameras, telescopes, binoculars, optical zoom lenses or attachments; they require a purpose-built front-mounted solar filter.
